Joseph A. Zenel Jr., MD of Sanford Children's/USD
(Sioux Falls, SD) Sanford Children’s expands with the hiring of Joseph A. Zenel Jr., MD to serve as Director for the Pediatric Residency Program, Sanford Children’s/USD. Starting in mid-August, Dr. Zenel will also serve as Professor and Chief of the Section of General Pediatrics, Sanford School of Medicine of The University of South Dakota and as Assistant Vice President for Education, Sanford Health. One of Dr. Zenel’s initial goals is to obtain accreditation for the Pediatric Residency Program, Sanford Children’s/USD from the American Council of Graduate Medical Education (ACGME).

Before joining Sanford Children’s, Dr. Zenel was Professor and Vice Chair of Pediatrics at Oregon Health & Sciences University. He has also served as Acting Chair of the Department of Pediatrics at Oregon. Dr. Zenel is an Associate Editor of Pediatrics in Review, the continuing education journal of the American Academy of Pediatrics. He is also the senior author of a major textbook in the field of general pediatrics: Pediatrics (Osborne, DeWitt, First and Zenel).
