Sanford Heart Hospital is geared up with the best there is in heart technology and equipment. A Cardiovascular Operating Room. A Hybrid Operating Room. A Short-Stay Unit. These innovations give our skilled professionals the tools to do what they do best – save lives, treat conditions and prevent disease.
Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR)
The Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) allows our surgeons to use less invasive techniques that take less time than traditional surgery. Boom-mounted equipment keeps the floor clear of clutter and allows our dedicated team of eight to 10 skilled professionals to move about the space safely and efficiently. All of this equates to better outcomes and faster healing times for our patients.
Hybrid Operating Room
In our Hybrid Operating Room, we provide coordinated equipment and tools in one place to benefit the patient. It is home to an elite team of cardiologists, cardiac surgeons and vascular surgeons, to name a few.
A cath lab imaging space is built right in so patients do not have to be taken to another area of the hospital. Our Siemens Artis Zeego® Imaging system with a robotic arm allows our surgeons to conduct surgery in minimally invasive ways. The Hybrid OR is also ideal for patients who may not be able to safely undergo more invasive procedures, such as traditional surgery.
The Nuclear Medicine area houses state-of-the-art equipment used to diagnose and treat disease. Nuclear Medicine uses very small amounts of radioactive materials to give physicians clear images of the heart’s structure and function. It is also used to perform treatment procedures. Special gamma cameras provide extra assistance to technicians while they examine patients.
The Stress Lab area is where patients undergo exercise stress tests to evaluate their heart’s health and determine how much damage is present in the heart.
Echocardiograms provide a simple, painless test that uses sound waves to produce images of the heart and its valves. We are the the only lab in the state to be accredited in three modalities Adult Echo as well as Vascular Lab Pediatric Echo.
The Stress Lab also has special areas where families can go to support the patient in the prep room while they prepare for a stress test.
