Get screened

Live healthy

Eat a healthy diet, minimize alcohol consumption, stay active and have regular health screenings.


Breast-feeding may be involved in breast cancer prevention – the longer a woman breastfeeds over her lifetime, the greater protective effect it seems to provide.

Identify your family history

Having a mother, sister or daughter who has had breast cancer increases your risk. Talk to your doctor about how ways to prevent breast cancer.

Weigh the risks and benefits of Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT)

HRT is used to treat the symptoms of menopause, but increases the risk of breast cancer. Talk to your doctor to discuss if HRT is right for you.
