Nurse Rebecca: A very calm and spiritual moment
Sarah Talbott writes: "I wanted to share an experience I had a couple of days ago. Rebecca had a patient on the floor that in the afternoon took a sudden turn for the worse. Some family were called and were here. Although the gentlemen was older this was not expected by family at this time. Rebecca, Jess and Steph were in the room with the patient and family. We had already had staff contact the priest to come per family request, but knew that he would not make it in time. We could see that the patient would pass soon. Rebecca asked the family if they would like to pray, and initiated the holding of hands in a circle around the patient. Rebecca gave a very heartfelt, sincere prayer and then the daughter who had been almost uncontrollably crying took over and began saying a prayer as well. It was a very calm, spiritual moment as the patient passed. I am truly impressed with Rebecca and her actions at that time. I feel this is a perfect example of the compassion and dedication that exemplify Sanford Chamberlain nurses. I have no doubt that this family will always remember this experience as well."
