Increase your fluid intake to replace lost fluids when you have a fever, diarrhea, vomiting, or sweating.
The following suggested amounts of fluids to drink every hour are based on body weight:
| Your weight | Fluid | ||
|---|---|---|---|
| Pounds | Kilograms | Ounces | Milliliters |
| 30.0 | 15.0 | 2.0 | 60 |
| 60.0 | 30.0 | 4.0 | 120 |
| 90.0 | 40.0 | 6.0 | 180 |
| 120.0 | 55.0 | 8.0 | 240 |
| 150.0 | 70.0 | 10.0 | 300 |
If you have kidney or heart problems that limit your fluid intake, do not increase your usual amount of fluids unless your doctor specifically tells you to do so.
