Beta-Blockers

Beta-blockers lower heart rate and blood pressure and reduce the workload on the heart. Beta-blockers are often used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension), coronary artery disease, and heart failure.

Examples of beta-blocking medicines include:

  • Atenolol (Tenormin).
  • Carvedilol (Coreg).
  • Propranolol (such as Inderal).
