Option 1 -- Living Well with MS
Q&A with: Carrie Smith, Dr. Jerome Freeman, Sanford Clinic Neurologist and Sara Hutton, Sanford PharmD
Carrie and Dave Smith
Carrie has always loved country music and started singing professionally at the age of ten. After college she headed to Nashville where she met her husband Dave Smith, a passionate guitar player. Carrie and Dave toured together for six years after they were married. After their daughter was born, Carrie’s health began to decline. Excruciating leg pain, dizziness, and paralysis eventually led her to a neurologist, who diagnosed her with relapsing Multiple Sclerosis. Carrie decided from the start to take control of the disease. With Dave’s support, Carrie now focuses on what’s most important: being a mother, a wife, and a musician. Carrie takes time to spread awareness about
MS, treats each day as a gift, and takes nothing for granted. Dave has learned to deal with the uncertainty of his wife’s condition, he picks up the slack when she’s fatigued and gains strength in her unwavering hope and perseverance.
