Sanford Moorhead Campus
The I-94 gateway to Moorhead is beginning to change as the structural steel goes up on the new Sanford Moorhead Clinic, the first building on the 28 acre Sanford Moorhead Campus. Once the beams are in place the pre-assembled walls will quickly give the building shape, it will be completely enclosed by summer and a building enclosure ceremony will be held as the pre-assembled tower is lowered into place.
Final drawings of the $13 million clinic have now been completed, the 49,000 square foot facility will include 52 clinical exam rooms with shelled space for an additional 13 rooms for expansion/growth. Sanford is utilizing construction methods that allow much of the work to be completed ahead of time off site and then put into place, helping building construction move more efficiently and faster.
The clinic will house over 30 physicians and other clinicians. Services will include internal medicine, family medicine, pediatrics, obstetrics and gynecology, occupational medicine, behavioral health, lab, x-ray, ultrasound and pharmacy.
Businesses and residents had the opportunity to be a part of the planning. Given the high visibility location, Moorhead wanted the clinic to be iconic and specific to their needs. One of the services we’ve been able to add at the request of local business leaders is occupational medicine, giving easy access to work-site services for business in the adjacent Moorhead industrial park.
Residents wanted a design to fit in well with their neighborhood, in response we connected with the city early on to ensure our designs complemented the cities growth, we are including plenty of green space and have paid close attention to the building design on all sides (no back door look).
Sanford pays close attention to utilizing sustainable initiatives in our building projects. This clinic will be built with low/no VOC (volatile organic compounds) emitting materials, maximize natural day lighting with large windows throughout building, occupancy sensors and low voltage lighting system to better control lighting, energy efficient smart mechanical systems, and additional insulation. Construction is ahead of schedule and on budget. Moorhead Clinic was designed around patient flow and efficiencies. Many of the details will be replicated for future clinics. We expect to open in spring 2014. The address is 4000 28th Ave S (Intersection of 40th St & 28th Ave. off the I-94 & 34th St exit).
