Description:

This symposium is dedicated to exploring evidence-based and future directions in cardiac care. It is designed to enhance the knowledge and competence of health care professionals associated with the management of challenging aspects of heart disease.

Target audience: physicians, advanced practice providers, nurses, pharmacists and other interested health care professionals

  • Describe types of structural defects of the heart
  • Examine treatment options for structural heart disease
  • Explore the impact of cardiovascular disease on the behavioral health of patients
  • Determine when a patient may need behavioral health consultation
  • Describe the clinical presentation of coronary chronic total occlusion

  • Summarize the recommendations for the use of therapeutic hypothermia post cardiac arrest
  • Describe the use of coronary computed tomography angiogram (CTA) as a radiographic test
  • Discuss indications for the use of coronary CTA examinations
  • Examine the influence of sleep disturbance on cardiopulmonary health
  • Discuss the potential for sleep promotion to reduce risk for subsequent cardiac events
