Nearly four years ago the Intensive Air pediatric flight team was summoned to help save the life of a special little girl from Adrian, Minnesota. Kassidy Peters was out in the farm yard with her sister Stacie when the two were separated as Stacie got in the pick-up to move a trailer and Kassidy went off to save a butterfly. As she began to move, Stacie didnt even think about Kassidy possibly being in front of her at least until she felt a bump and heard screaming and crying. Stacie had accidentally run over her little sister fracturing her pelvis in four areas.
Kassidy was taken to the nearest hospital and from there transported via Sanford Intensive Air to Sanford USD Medical Center where she was treated with the best care.
OUR HELICOPTERS ARE IMPRESSIVE. BUT THATS NOTHING COMPARED TO THE WELL- OILED MACHINE OF OUR TRANSPORT TEAM.
The Air Transport team has been working together and saving lives for thirty years. As the first medical flight service in the region, they have flown nearly 30,000 patients and that number climbs every day as they respond quickly to patients in need.
And once the patients arrive at Trauma 5, they are cared for in a state-of-the-art room that was specially designed so that procedures could be done right then and there, instead of moving the patient around the hospital. This time-saving measure, along with many protocols at Trauma 5, were created to ensure the best possible care and outcomes.
