Sanford Children’s uses a team approach in caring for complex rehab needs of children via our highly specialized Spina Bifida Clinic, Feeding Clinic and Pediatric Traumatic Brain Injury Team.

Department Physicians

The team of pediatric rehabilitation specialists at Sanford Children’s Specialty Clinic includes Julie Johnson, MD, a pediatric rehabilitation physician (also known as a Physiatrist), physical therapists, occupational therapists, speech therapists, child life specialists, special education teacher, recreational therapists, psychologists, registered dieticians and more. This team is available for consultation and coordination of rehabilitation care needs including therapies (physical, occupational, speech); assessments for orthotic/bracing or equipment needs such as walkers or wheelchairs, and other services to support children’s rehabilitation needs.

Our rehab physician, Dr. Johnson, works closely our team of rehab specialists, providing consultations for those caring for children in both clinic and hospital settings. Sanford Children’s has a close working relationship with Children’s Care Hospital and School, where Dr. Johnson provides follow-up outpatient care and serves as a pediatric rehab physician.
