MDA Clinic

In cooperation with the Muscular Dystrophy Association, Sanford Children's Hospital offers a monthly comprehensive clinic for children and adolescents with muscular dystrophy, spinal muscular atrophy, myasthenia gravis, genetic myopathies, and other neuromuscular disorders.

Come for the morning, and your child will be evaluated by:

  • Pediatric PhysiatristDr. Julie Johnson— Specializing in problems with mobility, spasticity, and bracing
  • Pediatric NeurologistDr. Bonnie Bunch—Specializing in neuromuscular disorders and general pediatric neurology
  • Pediatric Therapies—Physical, Occupational, and Speech Therapists
  • Pediatric Dietician—Help with weight, nutrition, and constipation issues
  • Orthotists—Save a trip—Get casted in clinic for the first step in making orthotics, splints, and other appliances
  • Genetic Counselor—Help in getting a diagnosis and understanding how inheritance work

In the afternoon, other pediatric specialists are available for consultation, depending on your child’s needs:

Also Available: Seating/positioning and pressure mapping evaluations through Children’s Care Hospital and School Outpatient Rehabilitation Center.
