That is why we are committed to providing family-centered care by a highly trained team of pediatric specialists. Our team of pediatric physicians works closely with 300 specially trained pediatric staff, all dedicated to serving the special needs of children. This team includes over 30 pediatric sub-specialty trained physicians, 14 general pediatricians and over 100 family medicine physicians who are engaged in research and faculty members of the Sanford School of Medicine of The University of South Dakota.
Brining pediatric intensive care expertise to the bedside of rural hospitals in the region, a specialized pediatric transport team averages close to 300 flights per year. This life saving team consists of a PICU nurse, respiratory therapist and paramedic and is supported by pediatric critical care physicians at Sanford Childrens. Our pediatric unit provides comprehensive care to both outpatients and inpatients in our current setting of 39 beds. We are excited to be bringing a dedicated childrens hospital to the region, with anticipated opening of our 60 plus beds facility dedicated to children in 2009. |
