Pediatric Intensive Care Unit

The pediatric intensive care unit at Sanford Children’s Hospital is a multidisciplinary unit that cares for critically ill and/or injured infants, children and adolescents. The unit is supported by specialized nursing, respiratory, pharmacy, social work and child life personnel.

A dedicated pediatric flight team comprised of pediatric critical care nurses is available 24 hours a day to transport your ill or injured children by helicopter, airplane or ground to Sanford Children’s Hospital.

Sedation Services for Children
Our on-site pediatric critical care team is able to provide conscious sedation services to kids who are in the hospital or visiting for a procedure. By tailoring the amount of sedation necessary for children to their individual circumstances, our pediatric critical care physicians minimize the trauma, risk and discomfort often associated with children’s undergoing procedures.
