| Paige visits Dr. Ryckman |
Paige was transferred to Sanford Children’s Hospital from Ortonville Hospital in August, 2008 for nausea and vomiting. After further testing at Sanford Children’s, they found Paige had an intestinal malrotation.
Upon this diagnosis we were blessed to have Dr. Ryckman come into our lives and further evaluate the problem. He entered our room and introduced himself as the pediatric surgeon. As a mom, I automatically freaked out thinking, what is wrong with my baby? Dr. Ryckman explained everything thoroughly and made me feel better about the situation. He was extremely patient with me and awesome with Paige. He showed her the care that I believe he would give his own child.
The next morning Paige was scheduled to have an exploratory laproscopic procedure. Dr. Ryckman, along with Jen Reitsma, came in and once again explained the procedure and the possibility of having an open procedure. He assured me, and I knew he only had Paige's best interest in mind. The procedure ended up being an open procedure. During Paige’s OR time, I was kept updated and Jen, bless her heart, reassured me letting me know everything was going okay and Paige was tolerating everything great.
After surgery, Dr. Ryckman, along with Dr. Casas, explained the procedure and the findings. Paige's post-op care was the best that I could have ever expected. Dr. Ryckman followed her closely and was very attentive to her needs as well as my needs. The pediatric nurses were also a great team and very patient!!! As a mother I feel truly blessed that Dr. Ryckman was brought to Paige, and as a nurse I know he is a great surgeon and doctor. He is always there to answer any questions at any time for you, including the middle of the night! Sanford has gained a tremendous surgeon. I can only say terrific things about Dr. Ryckman, Dr. Casas, Jen, and the nurses.
Paige and I will always have a soft spot for Dr. Ryckman. He will always be a part of our lives and if anything would ever arise for Paige or my other children, Dr. Ryckman and Sanford would be the first people I would go to. I just don't feel like I can give enough praise and thanks to everyone!!!!
THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!!!!
