Growing Healthy

Sanford Children’s Growing Healthy program partners with the Sioux Falls Growing Healthy Initiative’s mission is to mobilize the community to assure the health and wellness of the children of the Sioux Falls Area. To implement this strategy the Growing Healthy Initiative seeks to embed services and resources, designed to truly change the culture and actions of community citizens to promote healthy, active lifestyles.

Sanford Children’s C.H.I.L.D. Services, with support for Growing Healthy and Kohl’s Care’s for Kids, has developed a curriculum for child care providers and a curriculum for parents. Each curriculum is a series of 4 classes that help educate providers and parents on the importance of promoting movement and healthy eating habits with children.

Program Goals:

  • Childcare providers will become knowledgeable in promoting a healthy lifestyle for the children in their care.
  • Parents will become knowledgeable in promoting a healthy lifestyle for their children.

Objectives:

  • Increase awareness of the importance of a physically active life style for children.
  • Increase understanding of the importance of a physically active life style for children.
  • Increase ability to provide children opportunities for a physically active life style.
  • Increase awareness of the importance of healthy food choices for children.
  • Increase understanding of making and promoting healthy food choices for children.
  • Increase ability to provide children healthy food choices.
  • Increase awareness of community resources to assist in providing children opportunities for a healthy lifestyle.

Growing Healthy Incentive Program for Child Care Providers

The Growing Healthy Incentive Program for Child Care Providers is a community sponsored program. The program offers child care providers opportunities to encourage a healthy lifestyle for children by participating in healthy lifestyle activities for children and encouraging families to participate as well. There is no cost to enroll or participate in the program.

Through this program your facility can earn points that can be redeemed for Growing Healthy prizes. Points can be earned through facility and family participation in Growing Healthy events and services. These Growing Healthy events and services will be offered by Growing Healthy partners throughout the community for easy access.

You choose your facility’s Growing Healthy prize once you have reached the qualifying point.

 

Fundraiser Option – Get Points Quicker
Have families in your facility enroll in the Growing Healthy Incentive Program for Families with their points designated to ‘count’ for your facility.
