Responsive Parenting

Responsive Parenting Classes are part of the South Dakota Bright Start Initiative.  These free classes are a six-week series for parents who have children ages birth to three years old.  New classes begin every six weeks and are available in different locations throughout the state.  Responsive Parenting topics include:

  • Encouraging Your Child
  • Parenting is Stressful; So is Growing Up
  • Responding to Your Child's Needs
  • The Parent-Child Dance
  • What and How Your Child Learns
  • Your Unique Child

The Parent-Child Dance

The importance of the first three years of life is far reaching and children constantly look to us to learn how to respond. This class focuses on the day to day interactions we have with our children and how to use these interactions to promote a child's self-esteem.
