This SectionInfant/Toddler Environmental Rating Scale (ITERS)
The ITERS Program is designed to improve the quality of infant and toddler environments in order to provide higher quality care.
The observation tool (ITERS) rates seven subscales in the environment:
- Space and Furnishings
- Personal Care Routines
- Listening and Talking
- Activities
- Interaction
- Program Structure
- Parents and Staff
The ITERS Program involves pre and post observations by an ECE staff person, goal-setting to improve in needed areas, targeted technical assistance and training, and follow-up to maintain improvements.
