Donna Smithback in 1979 became an RN graduate of the Sioux Valley Hospital School of Nursing. She worked as a critical care nurse for two years at Sioux Valley Hospital before transferring to the neonatal intensive care unit for 17 years.
After staying home to care for her children for several years she joined Sioux Valley Breast and Bone Health Institute in 2004. Donna worked extensively with patients, doing everything from mammograms to diagnostic testing and biopsies. She then pursued a certification in breast health navigation and expanded her role by becoming a breast oncology care coordinator. When a woman is diagnosed with breast cancer, she provides a supportive and educational role thru their journey of breast cancer and beyond. She feels a calling and a passion to work with patients and families during their times of health crisis.
Donna resides in Hartford with her husband, Tom and loves spending time with her three children and granddaughter, Grace. |
