Lung Cancer Lung cancer is characterized by the uncontrolled growth of abnormal cells in one or both of the lungs. The majority of lung cancers begin in the bronchial tubes that conduct air in and out of the lungs. What is the Lung/Thoracic Tumor Clinic? Sanfords Lung/Thoracic Tumor Clinic is a weekly morning clinic. A multidisciplinary team evaluates and makes recommendations for care of patients with tumors in the chest. Who is on the team? The team consists of surgeons, pulmonologists, medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, pathologists, diagnostic radiologists, interventional radiologists and palliative care specialists and an RN Coordinator. The clinic offers a comprehensive interdisciplinary approach for evaluating and treating chest tumors (including lung cancer, esophageal cancer or other undiagnosed chest tumors) by providing:
