Registration/Check-in

  • Directions to Sanford Children’s Hospital
  • Plan to arrive at the hospital 30 minutes before your scheduled appointment.
  • Parking is free and available in the parking lot in front of Sanford Children’s Hospital. Entrance to this lot is from 22nd Street, between Grange Avenue and West Avenue.
  • Registration: A greeter at the Information Desk located in the Carlson Great Hall will welcome you and provide directions to the Registration Area.
  • Sanford Children’s Hospital is a secure building for the safety of our patients. Parents will receive a visitor sticker and security access card. The security officer will ask about your wishes regarding your child’s visitors. The security officer will teach you how to use your access badge.
  • Sanford Children’s staff will accompany you and your child to the Weir Pediatric Outpatient Center. For your privacy and comfort, admission will take place in your room.
  • You will be greeted in your room by a Pediatric Outpatient Registered Nurse or a Child Life Specialist. The nurse will complete admissions paper work and a brief questionnaire on the computer about your child’s medical history and allergies, weigh your child, and measure your child’s blood pressure, temperature, heart rate and respiratory rate.
  • The Child Life Specialist will help prepare your child for the procedure and provide comfort and distraction during the procedure. A registered nurse will then examine your child and discuss the physician orders and plan of care with you.
  • You will be oriented to your child’s room and given a tour of the area by your child’s room.

If your child will be receiving sedation for his/her procedure, a physician from the Miller Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) will meet with you and examine your child before the procedure begins.
