Enhance the patient and family experience at the OB Clinic. Volunteers may greet patients and family, give direction to waiting area/restrooms, inform OB Clinic nurse that patient has arrived, and direct patient to elevator/parking at discharge etc. Duties could also include supervision of a child while mom has lab work, etc.
This role supports the work of the Operating Room department by performing various tasks related to the material/physical support of the unit. These include, but are not limited to, routine housekeeping, supply management, and patient transport. Examples: OR room turnovers, cleaning and disinfecting equipment, stocking supplies, clerical duties, changing O2 Tanks, running specimens to lab or running supplies/ equipment to different locations, helping lift patients or escort families to locations.

To provide patient support to newly diagnosed breast cancer patients. This may include sitting with the patient, holding their hand, talking with the patient on the phone, sharing personal stories about one’s own experience and assisting in comfort measures that are meaningful to the patient. The volunteer would not be responsible for any direct patient care requiring medical knowledge or provide medical information.

The main purpose for this shift would be to escort patients from the GI Center to GI West. Other tasks may also include cleaning rooms, making beds, folding linen, stocking supplies and making food trays for patients.
Provide clerical support to Spiritual Care & Ethic by answering phones, greeting visitors and providing directions to offices or conference rooms.
Volunteers help enhance the patient and family experience on the Medical/Oncology unit. Volunteers may greet patients and family, answer phones, answer call lights, deliver flower to patient rooms, accompanying patients walking, passing waters, and assist in discharge.
Enhance the patient experience by providing a caring presence to patients during transport and assisting the therapist with treatment as directed. Also provide support to staff by providing housekeeping, clerical and restocking supplies as able.

Gift Shop volunteers provide “retail therapy” by touching the lives of patients, families and staff that come into the gift shop. Volunteers will assist gift shop staff in maintaining outstanding customer service by generating sales, merchandising, ringing transactions, taking phone orders and delivering flowers or gifts to patients’ rooms. Gift Shop profits are used to support scholarships, patient care, programs and medical equipment here at Sanford USD Medical Center and Sanford Children’s Hospital.

The Sanford USD Medical Center Wellness Center has opportunities for individual who enjoy being with children ages 0-8 and help provide child care services while parents exercise at the Wellness Center located at 49th St. & Oxbow Ave. Volunteers play with children and interact with recreational activities for children.

Volunteers in the Birth Place greet visitors as they arrive. Answering phones, call lights and delivering flowers to patients are assigned duties to the volunteers. Volunteers will also walk new moms to the NICU and help with discharge of patients.
