Sioux Falls - Sanford Health Career Exploration Program

Sanford Scrubs Club:
Free health career exploration for grades 9-12. School year club meets once a month, September through April. Summer club consists of 3 consecutive days in June. Admittance by application. View the scrubs club brochure. To apply, complete the scrubs club application and email as an attachment to Kelly Tollefson.

Sanford Scrubs for College:
Still undecided? Explore health careers! Applicants are students enrolled in college and wish to explore careers in healthcare. Session dates in June. To apply, complete the college scrubs application and send as an attachment to Kelly Tollefson or fax to 605-312-9837.

Sanford Health’s Virtual Healthcare Academy Series:
Sanford Health’s Virtual Healthcare Career Exploration is offered in partnership with the SD Dept of Rural Health and provides an opportunity for students to experience a wide variety of health careers. Through DDN, high school students can access health career programming without leaving their classrooms! High school classes may sign up to watch live or may check out a DVD of the session.

Elementary School Visits:
Sanford Health staff will visit your elementary class and provide a look at healthcare issues that affect your grade level.

High School Educational Tours:
9-12 grade students speak with healthcare professionals on site as they visit a number of departments at Sanford Health. All visitors must sign HIPAA and confidentiality agreements.

DVD Lending Library:
View procedures and interviews of healthcare professionals from past Virtual Healthcare Academy sessions. For a listing of titles and to submit a request, contact Kelly Tollefson.

Fargo - Sanford Health Youth Medical Experience Program

The youth medical experience program provides an excellent opportunity for selected high school juniors and seniors to explore careers in healthcare under the guidance of Sanford Health professionals.

Acceptance into the program is competitive, with space for only a limited number of students. Applicants should be mature, self-motivated individuals interested in taking an active role in furthering their education. It is also necessary for participants to make a time commitment to the program, which includes attending program sessions at Sanford Health in Fargo during the school year. There is a $75 fee for the program, however scholarships are available for students with limited resources.

Applications are distributed each April and participants are selected in May for the program. Please print the documents below to learn more about the program.
