Patient Safety for Providers

Prevention of medical errors and adverse outcomes is an essential component of high quality health care. Clearly, healthcare providers have an obligation to practice patient safety, but patients and their advocates play an essential role as well. Many tools are available for physicians and other practitioners to use with their patients (see links below). In addition, Sanford Health Plan encourages its members to learn about the risks of medical procedures and therapies, to take precautions with their medications, and to ask questions about anything they do not understand.
