FAQ’s
Q. Which health conditions most significantly affect rates?
A. Typically, ongoing illnesses and pending services related to things like cancer, transplants or serious diseases that will require extensive treatment.
Q. What information is necessary to receive a quote?
A. A current census indicating the status of the employees (i.e. active or COBRA), age or DOB, and type of coverage (i.e. single, family, employee plus spouse or children) and number of children in each family. This information is required. Additional information will help us in the underwriting process and can save time for you and the prospect by submitting rates as close to the final quote as possible. Applications are the best source of health condition information. We will provide quotes using another carrier's applications. Claim history or loss runs are effective tools also as this will help identify large claims. Current plan information is essential as we will want to match their current plan in addition to suggesting alternatives. Rate information is helpful information to identify possible current underwriting class.
Q. Can I have an exclusive contract for the area where I do business?
A. It is our belief that contracting with local, independent agents is the most effective way to market, sell and service prospects in this part of the country. All agents have unique relationships with local prospects through community involvement or other lines of coverage and so we feel that using only a few, exclusive agents would diminish the opportunity to do business.
Q. Will GPB/Sanford Health Plan help me with advertising?
A. Yes. Co-op advertising is the most under utilized resource we have available. In addition to spots in your local paper, we'll be happy to arrange presentations or informational meetings in your community where several prospects could be invited.
Q. Can Sanford Health Plan cover out of area members?
A. Yes. Sanford HP can and does access other networks such as Beechstreet, Preferred One and TLC. Please don't shy away from quoting a business with employees or dependents in other parts of the country.
