Gate City Endowment
For Gate City Bank, philanthropy and volunteerism provide the foundation of a corporate culture that is dedicated to supporting the communities they serve. This commitment was evident during the Roger Maris Gala on Nov. 17 when the bank made a $500,000 gift to create an endowment to benefit pediatric oncology at the Roger Maris Cancer Center. "We were humbled by the response," said Steve Swiontek, Chairman, President, and CEO of Gate City Bank, about Gala guests recognizing bank leadership with a standing ovation. "Philanthropy is something we do on a daily basis; we don't expect anything in return."
Gate City Bank, founded in 1923, serves 19 communities throughout North Dakota and Minnesota. Known regionally for their commitment to investing in the communities they serve and providing a better way of life, the bank was recently awarded the Corporate Leadership Philanthropy Award by the ND Chapter of Association of Fundraising Professionals. Employees also embrace the bank's mission – having volunteered a total of 16,700 hours in 2011.
